Search Tips for the
Chattanooga Photo Database
- ALWAYS use Limit By: Digital Collection
- Do not be too specific in your search: use general keywords.
- Do not abbreviate. Exceptions are St. used for Saint and an ampersand
(&) used when part of an official name.
- Search numerically named streets by number.
- Try singular as well as plural forms of words or use truncation or wildcard
searching, e.g., industr* retrieves industry, industries, industrial, etc.
- Click on the link for each result retrieved to display the thumbnail, title,
and date. The date reflects the time period of the image.
- Click on the title to view descriptive record.
- View the larger images by clicking the thumbnail.
- To search for general views or aerial shots, try the following keywords:
- Aerial view,
- Cityscapes, or
