Search Tips for the
Chattanooga Photo Database

• ALWAYS use Limit By: Digital Collection
• Do not be too specific in your search: use general keywords.
• Do not abbreviate. Exceptions are St. used for Saint and an ampersand (&) used when part of an official name.
  
• Search numerically named streets by number.
  
• Try singular as well as plural forms of words or use truncation or wildcard searching, e.g., industr* retrieves industry, industries, industrial, etc.
  
• Click on the link for each result retrieved to display the thumbnail, title, and date. The date reflects the time period of the image.
  
• Click on the title to view descriptive record.
  
• View the larger images by clicking the thumbnail.
  
• To search for general views or aerial shots, try the following keywords:
  
  • Aerial view,
  • Cityscapes, or
  • Street photography
